 Earthquakes in Chile from 2000 to 2016





Statistics indicate that there has been great seismic activity in Chile between 2000 and 2016.
In 2003 there was an earthquake which reached 7.8 over the scale. However, in 2007 there was the most significant fall of the decade with a earthquake of 6.2 on the scale.
Was expected that the seismic activity continued to decrease for the next years but seismic activity rose sharply in 2010 with an earthquake of 8.5 on the Richter scale, that same year the seismic activity decrease drastically again until 6.3 and rose to 7.0 for 2011. From 2011 to 2014 there were four earthquakes that were remain steady with activity of 7.0. Until the end of 2014 where increased drastically again until reaching an earthquake of 8.2 and then fell back to 7.1.
At the beginig of 2015, the seismic activity increased with an earthquake of 8.4 on the Richter scale and when expected for that year more earthquakes suddently they stopped and until 2016, there has not been any earthquake.
